Noticed over the weekend that one of my JBL speakers is blown. Is there a good site to locate a replacement speaker, either one just like the ones I own (I'm sure they probably don't manufacture that particular speaker anymore as I bought them eight years ago) or a comparable replacement?

Why don't you just find a replacement driver? If you like the speakers, why dump 'em?

Or have the blown drivers repaired?

It may not even be the driver - it could be a capacitor!

Well, there's always hope, right? Worth checking out....

Define what is meant by 'blown' and, perhaps, folks can help a bit more. If you can supply some symptoms you're hearing and even a picture - not to mention a model number - would be really helpful.

I had a JBL speaker blown once. They offered to replace the speaker at $70 some bucks (it was still in production) or repair it for a lot cheaper. I did both since I needed it right away, and that way I'd have a back-up.

You should call them, I'd be they could repair it.

Good Luck,
Jake

I had a Tannoy that I thought was blown. Terribly distorted sound. I took it to the local speaker shop without much hope. Turns out that part of the "spider" had come unglued. Cost $20 to get it fixed.

I have 9 year old,Danish Audio Vectors They have four drivers in each and the only one's still available are the tweeters! The speakers sound best without the grills but I'm scared stiff to leave that meagre protection off. Scary stuff.

JBL sells replacement parts/speakers for my 10 year old HLS610's. I bet they stock the parts you need.

^Nope - I contacted them - that's where I found out the situation with the drivers. Quite a worrying thought, what happens if I need to replace a driver - how on earth do I match it?

Buy two of course and replace them in both speakers!

No sound at all - from any of the drivers/tweeter?

Did you switch the speaker cables (to make sure it's not the receiver)?

I still think it could be a cross over problem (a capacitor has to be replaced).
