VPI Tonearm help

I just got my Aries Scout and I'm can't figure out how to set the tonearm on the pivit that pencil lead seems to be in the way. its not secure. the instructions don't help.

I figured it out, its supposed to fit that way

The very sharp point just goes up into the recess on the arm. It's a pivot point.
