View Full Version : Portable turntable... The "Sound Burger" by Audio-Technica
I will. I will mainly use this for some train travels and party at others. I have some vinyls I have bought just for this kind of use (I will not use my "real" records). :)

Oops, I accidentally posted the image above, but there is a new unit from Crosley that seems pretty similar to the SoundBurger (albeit with even worse quality)....and it has USB output...I'd love to hear a needledrop made with one of these (just not with one of my records).

fun concept that's for sure. I wouldn't put any of my records on there, especially with it being a record eating Crosley.
I'd trust the AT model mentioned earlier in the thread over this.

I'm just torn! Looks like a great table, just the thing to play my classic purple tinted rare 45 of "Lambert, The Sheepish Lion."
But I can't decide about the cartridge. This looks like it might be a great synergistic match for the Koetsu Tiger Eye Platinum. OR is it a better match to something classic like the Shure V15VxMR?
Aaahhh, the agony of indecision!

I would not buy the Crosley version of the Sound Burger.

I would too, it's got the AT 120 on it.
However, it's obtanium vs. unobtanium. And the going price for working AT soundburgers keeps increasing.

I had one of the AT Soundburgers at the time. It came in very handy for playing singles as my Linn LP12 only went at 33RPM (I did have the 45RPM pulley adaptor but never liked using it). It sounded OK in my system, but I can't remember what happened to it - it was surplus to requirements when I got a Lingo for the LP12.

I had one and used it for years, before buying my first decent turntable in '88 (a Linn Axis). I remember the Sound Burger didn't track very well so I had to add a coin on top of the headshell! Curiously, I still listen to some of those albums and they play fine...

Hi,
The Sound Burger sold for about $200. It also has a Audio-Technica magnetic cartridge tracking between 1.0 and 1.8 grams. The cartridge is the baby brother to the AT 440 ML. Nice performer.
Probably one of the few portable turntables that could play a record without ultimately ruining it. I'd seen one and it's definitely a better quality portable.

Ironically, I just came across this inner sleeve this morning, as I pulled it out of a $1.00 Three Dog Night lp I bought last night at Amoeba. Dig the kids groovin on the beach!
