I know that an audio version of this was released, but was there ever an official release of the show on VHS tape or DVD? Also when did the show originally air?

No, sadly there has never been an official VHS or DVD release of this.
In the UK, IIRC, it was first broadcast sometime in 1991.

Oh yeah - that was another question. Was the same version broadcast in the UK as was broadcast in the US.

That I don't know, I would have expected it to be the same broadcast though.
Hopefully someone will be able to answer that one.

Good thing I recorded it when it did air!
Is the cd still available? I seem to recall some hype at the time about it being a "limited" edition, of which I was skeptical.... :)

Officially, 2 of the songs on Unplugged saw the light of the day.
One of them is Things We Said Today.
Footage of this performance appeared on a MTV CD-ROM around 1995 (need to check this to get the actual title).
The other commercially available song is We Can Work It Out, which's available on one of The Best Of Unplugged videos, again, by MTV.

Yeah, it's still available and is easy to get hold of. :)

I see import copies of the Unplugged CD all the time, though there doesn't seem to be a US version in print. It's also available on iTunes.

It's available as an import but the original numbered edition released in the U.S. is a bit harder to find but not impossible. I still even have my long box (one of the few I saved...running out room you know).

Hopefully, when/if the McCartney catalog gets remastered for CD, they will issue an expanded version of the album on CD, as there were some songs left off (and some included as non-album b-sides, etc.).
The full, uncut performance (including multiple takes, false starts, etc.) does "circulate" among collectors on video.
A portion of the show is going to be included on the upcoming "McCartney Years" DVD set due to be released in November. But they really should issue the entire show (and that goes for the other "excerpts" on this upcoming DVD set, including "RockShow").
