I read about this on Audio Asylum. Check this out:

Also check out this Sony receiver:

Now, information on these components came from a Norwegian web site, so these components may not be marketed in the US. Go to this thread on Audio Asylum for more information:

A link to the Norwegian web site is included there.

In reading through the thread on Audio Asylum, the receiver will be the TA-D9000ES. Here is what someone there said about this receiver and the SACD player:

TA-DA9000ES price: $7000
7 x 200w
TA-DA9000ES and SCD-XA9000ES connects SACD through iLink

A digital link from Sony? Cool! :)

Keith - there was quite a funny apology message at the link you posted :) I think this takes you to the same place http://www.AudioAsylum.com/forums/hirez/messages/128694.html

All the best - Andrew

Well, I guess all the naysayers can stop complaining about not being able to use digital outs on SACD players since Sony has decided to include FireWire ins and outs on these components. Pure DSD straight through to the final D/A conversion. Very nice indeed. I wonder if the receiver is capable of digital bass management and other DSP-type things in DSD or if that would still require some sort of conversion to PCM. If it were capable of that - my, oh my.
