I'm glad all of the videos are finally coming out. The live stuff looks ok but I would have loved to see the 1979 tour or the unreleased 1972-73 era stuff but the DVD set is still a must buy for me.

I agree, this is good but I would like more rare live material. Where's the live versions of Juniors Farm, Smile Away, Big Barn Bed, Wildlife, The Mess?
There's just so much great material that he should of included.

That looks good to me...the main thing is the videos...I'm gonna go back to my list and see what he missed, but after a quick look it looks pretty good...I can live without any extra live footage...this might be the first step towards those things coming out on their own.
WOW,I'm actually posting a postive thing about Paul, this is great...
I'm gonna go dig out my old Club Sandwiches and see what videos are not included...but again....this looks fantastic!

Too bad it's missing so much.
Where's the Back to the Egg video album?
Why not just release the full Rockshow?
I'll still get it but it's a bit of a missed opportunity.

August 24, 2007, 10:20 AM ET

If he would also put out a b-sides and rarities box...

As good as it may be, no one is going to be completely happy.
I want more of the rare live performances, where's Juniors Farm, The Mess, Smile Away, Big Barn Bed, and Wildlife. I want more of the really rare stuff, too much of this is already familiar, there's just so much great material that should be included?

Wonder what the audio options for the videos are going to be. 5.1 sure would be a nice surprise...
The Rockshow footage is maddening! I'm glad to be getting anything from it, but...
*sigh*
McCartney knows that the fans want Rockshow (or a lengthened show from the same period). Why put a tease of it on this set? All that does is make it less likely that the full show will ever be released.
Oh well, at least it looks like a kickin' set of videos! :)

It's already a 3 DVD set, and it looks like each DVD, with bonuses, will be more than generous. With his long solo/Wings career, it would take another 10 DVDs (in reality much more) to try to compile an all-encompassing video and live chronology. If they included the entire 2 hour plus Rock Show, what would you leave off? I'm more than happy with this set, and guess what? If it sells, then more volumes are sure to follow. My pet peeve, not including the early version of Follow Me from Glastonbury.
McCartney would be smart to get into his archives now. The same dilemma however will arise when he releases some sort of CD/download box set of rarities. His Rude Studio and home demos alone would easily take up 4 or 5 double CDs themselves.... not to mention 37 years of studio outtakes, solo and Wings live material, TV and one-off radio appearances etc... No one will ever be truly satisfied with these things, but it's a step in the right direction for sure. Ron

Another press release, which says more about the bonuscontents and 5.1:
Paul McCartney to release career-spanning DVD
The collection features commentaries from the man himself
8 hours ago
Paul McCartney is to release a DVD looking back at highlights of his entire solo career.
'The McCartney Years', out on November 12, will feature solo music videos, career-spanning live performances, personal commentary by the man himself and exclusive footage.
Volume One and Volume Two contain a collection of videos, starting in the 1970s with Macca's first solo single 'Maybe I'm Amazed' all the way through to 2005's 'Fine Line'. The films can be viewed either in chronological order or as play-lists that have been personally arranged by Paul featuring his exclusive voiceover commentaries.
Volume Three includes live performances taken from three classic shows - 'Rockshow' on Wings' 1976 world tour, the 'Unplugged' show from 1991 and McCartney's headline performance at Glastonbury in 2004.
The bonus features and extras include never before seen footage and performances, including 'Let It Be' from Live Aid in 1985, archive interviews with Melvyn Bragg and Michael Parkinson, alternative versions of music videos and the full-length 2005 documentary 'Creating Chaos At Abbey Road' .
McCartney has recorded exclusive commentary and personal introductions for each promo video and each live concert.
The DVD will be available in widescreen and 5.1 surround sound.

I was hoping for the live version of "Mull of Kintyre" from 1990 that aired as part of the "Going Home" tour documentary. I believe "Give Peace A Chance" was also a part of that special.
When are they going to release that??
Quite a few missing clips for a three-disc set, including "The World Tonight," which, if memory serves, was directed by his daughter, and "Lonely Road," which I remember being a neat video.

Screened ONCE in a lifetime and then vanished.

Wait a minute: I've checked this article and there must be something missing. According to the press release, the 3rd volume would hold special interviews and the Chaos And Creation at Abbey Road thing.
Some missed chances but made up in other areas. The 5.1 extractions will keep us all busy for quite awhile ;) It does seem to be if he's releasing selections from Rockshow that a full release is nowhere in the future. And why re-release the Chaos special when it was released just two years ago and can probably still be bought?
Nothing from JPM and nothing from OHC could mean more releases might be on the way. But really, as someone said above, he's filmed and recorded so much stuff it would be impossible to release it all to the public...unless he finally starts offering up things on his website and let the public choose what they want.

I think the main stuff missing here is here...though I think some of these videos may appear as bonus on disc 3. Let's not forget Wingspan DVD featured Rockestra, Let'Em In and Jet live.
PS: thanks to the videos "circulating among collectors" those gaps can be filled...

Chris,
I believe that Creating Chaos at Abbey Road is not Chaos' bonus DVD.
It's the BBC special aired on cable everywhere.

I'm not aware of any Smile Away live performance, Joe. I don't believe this song was professionally shot, unless I'm mistaken (and I wish I was!)

Yeah, I just caught that as well. Now I'm more excited as I've only seen it once.
Little Willow, So Bad and London Town are on the dvd. After seeing the 'cuts' below, it's not that bad. 3 Legs is just similiar footage to Heart of The Country. One of the versions of Mary Had A Little Lamb is on the Flip Wilson DVD. The rest are available in decent quality but you forgot the "Here Today" clip made up of Lennon stills.
I wonder if "Juniors Farm" will be the TOTP version or the live version from Australia?
