Don't know if anyone has posted this already but here is the link to the trailer for Shine A Light, the Stones/Scorsese documentary. Rolling Stone.com claims it has been pushed to 2008:

Billboard announced the delay the other week.
That looks pretty good, particularly with Scorsese at the controls.

Thanks for the link. I guess there's a lot of nice guest appearances in the movie. Christine Aguellera is singing with Mick Jagger on one of the songs.

For whatever reason, I was under the impression that the movie was a career spanning documentary and not a concert movie. It kinda looks like The Last Waltz but the performers are way past their prime. Comments in the recent Stones retirement thread seemed to indicate that they have recently taken a turn for the worst live. However, it should be interesting to see what rare nuggets they pull out, and the footage in the trailer does look pretty decent. Consider me unexcited but willing to give it a chance.

I was at one of the two shows they filmed for this at the Beacon Theater. I've been looking forward to seeing it as it was a great show. On a sad note, the show I was at was the show that Ahmet Ertegun fell backstage which eventually caused him to slip into a coma and ultimately pass away.

I think Martin Scorsese has said it is primarily a concert film but it looks like it will incorporate some older clips. The trailer shows part of an interview with a very young Mick.

Looks like a colossal ho hum to me.
Honestly, why do the Stones feel like everytime they put out a live DVD or album, fans will want to hear some of 'today's stars' on it?! Christina Aguilera? Jack White? Sheryl Crow? Tina Turner? Bo Diddley? I don't care who the guest stars were on any given tour.
At least Marty probably won't have to airbrush out lumps of coke in musicians' noses in this one.
Golly. Gee. Another live Stones DVD. To go with the, what, eight discs Best Buy has put out from the last two tours that I haven't sat all the way thru yet?
I say screw this lot and let's have the Marquee '71, Ladies and Gentlemen, CS Blues, and more of the many, many filmed shows from the '70s and early '80s instead.

i agree with you on opening the archives, and on bringing on lame current artists, but i'm sure as later concert films go this should be a good one. and i'm sure that at some point the stuff you mentioned will get released. There's just too much dough at stake not to. of course, when is anybody's guess.

I love Martin Scorsese's work, and I enjoy The Rolling Stones' music, and that's good enough for me. I've been looking forward to this release.
Look forward to this one. I need to see The Last Waltz again.

Exactly what I thought! I love the guitar sounds this band gets. And here in this film it looks like someone really good did the sound mix. This one is to be played loud I can tell already.
This might be the last chance they would ever get to have Bo onstage with them, and so I can usderstand. His early Chess records sound is as important to the Stones as Chuck Berry's was, and Muddy's too. Let some other folks join in and rock with the greatest rock n' roll band the world has ever known. There are not many thrills as good as being on stage with the Rolling Stones. It's gotta be up there with a ride on the space shuttle. :D
