I just had an early '70s Pioneer SA-1000 amp fall into my lap, and found that the speaker connections require a specific plug, like those shown in the link here:

Is there a way around using these plugs? If so, does anyone know off hand which is +/- ? I don't want to just shove the wires in the slots, hehe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :righton:

Thanks!

You can find these @ Classicaudio.com.

OEM Pioneer speaker plugs.
Fits all older models.
$13.95 per pair.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the link too, but my issue isn't finding the plugs. I just don't have the funds to buy them at the moment, so my question was about finding a way around buying/using the original plugs.

Does anyone know which pin (horozontal & vertical) is positive and which is negative? I can rig up some makeshift plugs that will fit into these slots, but just want to get the polarity correct.

Thanks again!

I found the answer.

I emailed a company that sells the plugs and they said the top (horozontal) is positive.

Thanks to everyone that looked into this for me. :righton:
