Hi all! I know you guys are into 'high end fidelity' but I think a lot of you guys have a very good feeling toward Sansui! I noticed a few stereo factory tour threads lately so I thought you guys might like to see a Japanese Sansui Retirement site with fotos. I was surfing a japanese search engine for Sansui and I found a site named: "Sansui Electric Corporation Employees' Pension Fund'. All I can say is check this site out (if you like Sansui History and a ton of vintage fotos of the employees, factories inside and outside, office buildings, and even a employee forum so they can all keep in touch!) A former employee started the website. It will take hours to go through it all. Also there is some 40 pages of the book: Secret of Sansui Sound! Great factory fotos with employees. Including many pictures of founder Mr. Kikuchi.

1. Go to Google
2. Enter: http://suwan.web.infoseek.co.jp/
3. You will see: Top-[translate this page]
click on translate this page and everything turns to broken english using a japanese-japanese to english word converter automatically.

and then Have Fun!!!!!!!!

Navigate the site:
1. Page down to History of Sansui Icon. Just below that is where the action starts.
#1 Smiling bulliten board: employees website forum with fotos.
#5 Sansui Museum (which we have all seen, but in case you haven't)
#8 Icon Profile of woman's head in brown looking to left: fotos of sansui employees old and new
#10 Icon Sansui office picture: Pictures of Sansui offices from the outside including nice shots with the bullet train passing buy! Super!!
#11 Icon Running raindeer in brown: 55 fotos out of the book 'Secret of Sansui Sound'. Pictures of inside and outside factory, factory employees making Sansui products, board meetings, equipment, just super fine happy stuff!!!!
#12 Icon Link: Green field - #3 AQUA AUDIO lab
#5 Sansui website (new)
HP field - #1 Best of Sansui
#2 0BSINC
#3 History
Yellow field - #1 audio: another new sansui site
#2 1000a
#3 G9000
#4 a ton of fotos of all japanese stereos for sale
#5 another new sansui site
#6 Orion Sansui

There may be more stuff but this is what I found. It's an amazing and fun site for present and former Sansui lovers!! It's hard to read the 'forum', but it can be done. Great pictures of the former Sansui Offices, etc., as they are 'today' and inside scoops!!! Enjoy!!
Sansui Forever!! :righton:

Yeah, back in their prime (though the early '80s), Sansui made some great equipment. I don't think their glory years output really gets the proper amount of respect nowadays. A lot of that is probably due the the fact that in the early '80s they decided to put their name on crap. Oh, and because a lot of less interested people confuse Sansui with Sanyo (who ALWAYS made crap).

Any models in particular? The AU-9500 is one of my favorites.

I owned a Sansui 8080 for a while. Sold it to my friend and he owned it for years and years... Great equipment back in the late 60's till early 80's.

I would love to find a Sansui AU-20000 for decent price.

Can't say.

That's because I forgot what he recommended. :sigh:

Early this year, I acquired a bunch of Sansui goodies for cheap. The included turntable (SR-4050C) was still in excellent condition, but needed a bit of TLC. I cleaned the connections and contacts with DeOxit (which fixed the non-working 33/45 indicator light), relubed the main bearing and motor, installed a new belt(had to try several before I got close, did the "nail polish" tweak which got the speed dead-on), and an Empire 888 cartridge w/ NOS TE stylus. Once done, I sold it to a friend. After having a cheap Technics belt drive which finally failed after 25 yrs, then an even cheaper Numark(which quit after only a year), she swore that this Sansui turntable setup made her albums sound better than ever. Even I was pleasantly surprised how good it ended up sounding. Not bad for a 36 yr old piece of stereo equipment.

Can't recommend the AU-717 highly enough. Just had it serviced the other day and after the guy thanked me for bringing it in (he doesn't see too many like them) he mentioned in passing it must be the most conservatively rated 85 watt amp he'd seen.

Having let it loose a few times since I bought it recently, I had to agree...! :righton:
