I want to get the 2 "Dark Shadows" movies in widescreen. Can't believe that the original version of "King Kong" hasn't been released with lots of bonus material. I know it was available on lazerdisc for awhile but I 've not heard of a DVD release yet. Another favorite that I would buy is" Once Upon A Time in the West". Incredible soundtrack by Ennio Morricone. Any favorites you want that aren't available yet or need to be improved?

Cagney's White Heat
Laurel and Hardy - almost everything
Bogart - To Have And Have Not
more Marx Brothers
lots of film noir
Disney Classics Sleeping Beauty (and others)
There's tons of classics not out.

Hey Cow,
You can buy the Laurel & Hardy silent shorts on DVD. Go to www.moviesunlimited.com and put "Laurel & Hardy" in search. They're about $29.99 and you get five shorts per disc. Good luck!

Hal Roach Studios has put out about 9 volumes of silent Laurel and Hardy that are excellent. I can't see them being improved. They have beautiful picture quality with only a few bad spots due to their age. Kino also has a great box of Buster Keaton films.

Deep Discount DVD usually has the best prices for the Laurel & Hardys.

Several Hitchcock films that still haven't made it to DVD (e.g., Dial M For Murder, Suspicion, Lifeboat, The Wrong Man, etc.).

My picks today have a theme--movies with a Henry Mancini soundtrack:
Charade (properly redone, not a $5 knock-off)
Experiment In Terror
Arabesque
Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation
...and some TV series I'd collect on DVD:
Crime Story
Max Headroom
Spongebob (already have the three existing DVDs)
Miami Vice (at least the early seasons)
Peter Gunn
Soap
...and the two totally dumb, but still entertaining, Clint Eastwood movies "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Any Which Way You Can".
It's pointless to think about the original unaltered Star Wars movies...

Definitely! I have laserdiscs of most of the films, and they look terrible. "Vertigo" is SO nice on DVD, compared to the washed-out laserdisc.
the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rodgers movies
the original King Kong
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Frederic March version)

All of the Marx Brothers movies (Paramounts now out of print, the remainder have never been issued on DVD)
Classic Warner Brothers Cartoons
King Kong (original)
Ed Wood (scheduled for release last year, but pulled)
The T.A.M.I. Show
The Big TNT Show

The Criterion DVD of this title is fantastic -- well worth seeking out. Also, I believe that Universal will be releasing a "proper" version of it soon.
You mentioned a few semi-obscure TV series. I would love to see SLEGDEHAMMER! (starring David Rasche) make it to DVD.

Another excellent suggestion. I had to buy all four Universal sets (with repetition) in order to get all 4 discs of the AHP shows that were directed by the master. Fortunately, my mom also loves Hitchcock, so she enjoyed the "surplus" DVDs.

Invaders From Mars. 1953 version.
Better yet, someone spend a little money and restore this feature to 3D!

Heh heh, the eighties version was the first movie I bought on DVD.
The '53 version is a real favorite of mine...the director was William Cameron Menzies, who was one of the great all time set designers and art directors. He designed "gone with the wind" (remember the burning of atlanta?) and tons of movies going back to the silent era.
His other memorable movies as director:
"The Shape of Things"- a thirties sci-fi epic starring Raymond Massey.
"The Thief of Baghdad"- the 40's version with Sabu. Menzies was the designer on the original silent version.

Heard any rumors of a AC TV box? I absolutely loved that series...How many TV episodes are on the 4 DVD's?
Must of been alot of coin for those 4 AC boxsets...

Yeah, but it's probably that same patched print that we have on the laser disc version.
Meanwhile, the original Cinecolor negative just SITS THERE because no one wants to pay the 50 year storage fee.
