View Full Version : Annoying problem when trying to import CDs using iTunes 7.3.13

It seems that after installing the latest iTunes update (7.3.13), importing CDs has become very unstable.

When I try to import a CD and use another application at the same time it stops importing completely. I've never had this problem before. The only workaround that I've found is to minimize iTunes while importing a CD, then I can go ahead with another task. Anyone else notice this?

FWIW, just now I noted a 7.3.2 update is available. I run a Mac and have not noted any problems with the previous version.

I've noticed it also - looks like there's a more recent version available to fix.

Thanks for the heads-up and I've just finished downloading the 7.3.2 update! The strange thing is when I "Check for Updates" in iTunes, it tells me that I'm running the latest version (7.3.13) already.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue.

I imported three CDs into iTunes after installing the 7.3.2 update and it looks like it has fixed my problem.

I spoke too soon. I just tried another disc and encountered the same problem.

You running Mac or Windows? Mac version 7.3 doesn't have this limitation, and I routinely run at least seven or eight programs simultaneously. This is on an Intel Mac, with Windows running in the background.

I find with iTunes it helps to always check off "use error correction when reading CDs," because then it doesn't try to use the fastest speed possible. I'd always rather it be more accurate than take less time.

I'm running iTunes for Windows (XP SP2). Before the 7.3.13 update, I could do the same as you.

I didn't know that and thanks for the tip. I also prefer accuracy over speed.

No problems here with a G5 Mac Dual processor. I can rip a DVD, and burn another one all while transfering cds to iTunes...oh and I can read my email and surf the net at the same time.

How much RAM do you have?

I stopped updating iTunes, after the 7.1.1 debacle. I never want to go through that again!
