I was watching the Ultimate Edition DVD of Live And Let Die recently and noticed a specific part where the is a slight "flicker in the picture, and sometimes a quick flash of a green 'spec' on screen.

This happens at 78:33/78:34, as the Crocs are climbing into the water off the back at the crocodile farm, just after Bond is directed to walk towards the island.

I've tried the disc on my folks DVD player, which is older and cheaper, and this part plays fine, which is strange.

This is the only problem I have with any of my discs in my player. It's a slight pause, but still annoying.

I'm interested to know if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Is this where the layer change is?

It's definately not a layer change.

It's a minor glitch on the disc itself. Some players read over it, some don't. I had a similar problem with "The Shield" and it plays just fine on my Panasonic but not on my other player.

Thanks very much for the info. Of all the players I have access to, my Pioneer is the one I wouldn't expect to have a problem with the disc.

I have found the 'better' (more expensive) the player the more sensitive it is to anything. I have two dvd players in China, one is Pioneer (made in Thailand) and the other is a Chinese brand. Guess which one plays everything w/o problems.

I wonder if all the discs have the same problem, or if it is restricted to certain 'batches'?

:agree: I work part time at a video rental store and from questioning the customers we found that Pioneer DVD players are notoriously sensitive. For some customers with we have to check the discs until we find one that is decent enough to rent out.

Guess I have to take out my Live & Let Die disc and check it more closely. On a side-note there was an entire batch of the On Her Majesty's Secret Service UE R2 Sweden that had to be replaced.

Let me know if you find anything happends at that spot on your Live & Let Die disc!

I've been trying to find some contact details for the UK publisher of the Bond UE's, but so far all I've managed to get is a US phone number for MGM customer service. When I emailed to ask if there was a UK contact equivalent, the lady said she wasn't aware of one

The disc played fine here. Can't help you with any UK contact details, I can only suggest you contact the place where you bought it to begin with. Since it is more to do with the sensitivity of the DVD player you may have success having it exchanged once but should the same occur with the replacement disc they might not feel obliged to swap it again.

Thanks for the update.

The problem I have is that the disc is from the box set of all the Bond films, which I bought online from HMV back in November.

I didn't want to send the complete box back, as it would be very expensive, and HMV wouldn't exchange a single disc from the box set.

They wouldn't? Strange as in regards to my OHMSS disc the place I purchased it from saw to it that those with a faulty disc got replacements from the Swedish distributor. They had no trouble with it and I had bought the 007 briefcase. Took a couple of weeks for the new disc to arrive and I still got to keep the faulty one! Now that is customer service

Actually I just didn't get a replacement for the faulty disc, I got a brand spanking new 2-disc of OHMSS!!! Again, that is customer service! HMV should take notice.

He-he, I was just about to suggest you'd try the mgmuk.com link but found it goes to the US site.

Thanks for that! Unfortunately, it does, yeah. I emailed them through the site but they just gave me a US phone number. I would have thought MGM UK would exist, somewhere, but apparently not!
