Steve, maybe you can answer a question for me.

On the 240 picture, the very first "small tube" has a round metal housing on it (for the lack of a better term). Mine does, too. I've noticed these sheaths on other antique tube amps.

Why did they do this?

Yeah, Steve, what's up?

And what are the differences in the vintages of the two different Input/output panel configurations on the 240's?

I bet some classic Stax/Volt recordings would sound great played through these monitors:

Dig those casters mounted on the bottom! Anybody know how much a fella could expect to give for a nice pair of these? For big-time Stax/Volt fanatics like me, it would be awfully nice to have a pair around dedicated to playing back those catalogs.

That is the most sensitive input tube, the cover is shielding it from extra noise.

Steve, great link. I now have my parents' Marantz Model 7 and Model 8B tube components, and this web site has some nice historical information on them. Thanks for sharing the link.

Keith, get those bad boys working. That is the ultimate vintage stereo system! I use my 7C and 8B every day. Wonderful sound!
