I own these in conjunction with a pair of Dynaco A25's.

Who will give me their assessment on these oldies? I like 'em, but for different reasons - am I missing something - should I try other amps and combos? (on a budget folks!!!)

My first time in the hardware dept!!!!

Dynaco ST70. Too many things to mention here, plus I'm biased (no pun intended, ugh!)

You can literally rebuild a DynacoST70 from scratch and there are many mods to use... The Dynaco ST70 is a built in course in Tube Magic. It works better with people willing to solder, modify, recap and use the ol' volt meter.

Unless you're 100% lucky and get an ST70 you never have to mod, repair, and you "never need" a tube checker....

The ST70 is best as an introduction to tubes. The Internet support on the ST70 alone makes the unit seem like everyone in the world owns one.

I have an ST70 and used it in my system for a few months -- until the quad cap started buzzing badly. But it sounded magical paired with my two McIntosh MC30s.

Anyway, if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can rebuild an ST70 into a giant killer for less than $300. Joe Curcio (http://www.curcioaudio.com/) sells complete rebuild kits for the ST70, and he's helpful and considerate to boot. There's a pretty big ST70 Rebuilder Scene -- some people turn them into flea-watt triode amps to power high-efficiency horns, and others rebuild them to power subwoofers or lower frequencies on biampable speakers. I'm told they can be quite amazing when they're given the full, top-of-the-line rebuild treatment.

They're easy to rebuild and upgrade, and the parts are easy to come by.

I'm planning on having my ST70 rebuilt soon. For the price, it can't be beat.

I own a PAS-2, but I'm not a big fan of radio (if I'm in front of my system, I'd rather listen to music), but I'm gonna hold on to it.
