I'm listening to both the McIntosh 275 amp and conrad-johnson PV-15 preamp in my system right now, and I realize that this is the first time I've had either brand in my system! I did plug in a C220 preamp for a few hours a couple of months ago, but I don't count that, since I swapped a lot of equipment in and out of my system that day, and couldn't give you a definite impression.
The CJ is fresh out of the box, so it needs to break in, but the 275 is the one that Steve used recently, so it has plenty of hours on it. So while it's to early to give a formal review, it is nice to have tubes back in my system after a two or three month hiatus (I've been using an Exposure 3010S integrated since I sold my Yamamoto gear).
Listening to Kind of Blue right now...not bad!

Well, unit only has around two hours on it as I type, but so far, no complaints! I've been told that because of the caps used, there won't be a lot of break-in involved, and it'll be almost there within 24 hours.
From a practical standpoint, it's a very neat preamp with lots of features. This is the first preamp I've used with a microprocessor. It even has a phono stage, but I haven't tried it yet, since I'm currently reviewing two phono preamps.
I won't be reviewing the PV-15...I'm basically breaking it in for Jeff. I'll be swapping it out in a few days for the new ModWright 36.5 line stage, which I am reviewing. But since Jeff is CJ Boy, he'll get the honors.

I was not aware the c-j put teflon capacitors in the PV-15, they are the ones that take so long to break in but sound great once they are. Even without the teflon caps I am sure the PV-15 would need at least something like 25 to 50 hours of play time to be broke in. Enjoy the c-j unit while you have it. I am lucky enough to listen to c-j gear everytime I turn my system on. :)

I just switched over to the ModWright 36.5 line stage this afternoon, so the c-j goes back to Jeff!
