I am looking for some strong SOLID wood audio shelves. Anyone know a website or two that I could check out that offers some nice simple floor standing shelves that aren't super expensive?

Are you anywhere near an IKEA? Alternatively, can you get to a DIY store which has a hardwood section? Buy some wood at the dimensions you require, attach a couple of right angle brackets, a spirit level and stick on wall. Job done for about £50 maximum. Okay, $100 in US money (or with the current exchange rate, maybe that should be $300..0:laugh: ).
After that, try and clap hands on a marble chopping board - I picked one up in a Tesco supermarket in the UK - glue some sorbothan feet, or squash balls chopped in half to the base - and you have an inexpensive and effective isolation platform. Failing that, a secondhand Mission Isoplat would cost pennies off Ebay I'm guessing.
Either way, cheap and very cheerful but it beats leaving the thing on the floor!
(And with twins on the way, I'm discovering the joys of cheap and cheerful!!)

Anytime I hear Ikea, I think "Wood Product; some assembly required" :)
For good cabinets, you might check out second hand or used furniture stores.

Not near too IKEA in Ohio. But anyway when I check out their website I don't see anything that I like or it is not solid wood. Quite a bit of their stuff is pressed wood or particle board. I want something strong. I don't want it to bend in the middle.
I did notice that since I live in China and the US that the US Ikea's don't have the same products as the Beijing Ikea. It seems the Beijing store has more stuff and better prices. But this is only from looking online at the US stores. Never been to one in the US.

http://www.rackittm.com/ (mixture of solid wood and veneered ply).
Other sources for solid wood & good value are cabinet makers and office furntiture outlets.

inperson, Can't you find what you need locally? Just about all the inexpensive furniture these days come from the country where you now live?

Check the local woodworking shop bulletin boards (here, it's that national chain, can't remember the name). Carpenters/woodworkers who do custom work post their business cards there. Sometimes you can find great product and good prices.
Or, try Timbernation:

You didn't specify what inexpensive means. You need to provde a price range.
Where can anyone find "inexpensive" solid wood furniture? Kinda tough these days!

With the Amazon forest being wiped out as we speak and the Brazilians are selling the lumber for a song to the Chinese, I would think there should be a lot of cheap solid wood furniture out there.

What is defined as "cheap" and can you provide some links to specifics? I'm interested.

I have not shopped for any furniture in quite some time. I have read China has been importing much of the Brazilian timber over the past few years. Inexpensive timber plus cheap labor have to produce inexpensive all-wood furniture. There is no doubt much of the finished products are for export since China does not have a large domestic consumer market.

I don't doubt what you say is true.

I'm in the same plight. Too expensive for me also. But for my room, I do like the black lacquer...maybe someday. I wish I could get serious about a rack.
