I just closed a deal on a mint, nearly-new black P3-2000 w/ RB-300 arm. Does anyone know the difference between this and my 1996 Planar 3? Also, the person has a cartridge, a Zyx R50 Bloom for sale. I'd never heard of this one and was curious if anyone had any experience one. I'm curious to how it would compare to the Benz Glider M that I have on the older Rega table. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!:)

the bigger difference should be the 2000's lower-vibration motor, allowing them to tape it to the bottom of the plynth's laminate (rather than suspending from rubber belt on planar). Also, the (nicer-shaped IMHO) plynth is supposedly of a lighter, acoustically improved compound.

Anyone know how a Shure V15-V-mr would work in this arm-table combination?

I have a V15 on one of my P3's and I really like it.
Btw, Some of the Planar models had thinner glass platters. THey were 10mm instead of 12mm which you have on the post 2000 P3. Enjoy your new table. :)

I have a late '97 Planar 3, with the VxMR and love it (though a little top end isn't there - you shouldn't have that problem with the V-MR). I'd buy some sort of VTA adaptor for your Rega (instead of a washer) if you're going to use a V15. I like (and use) the Expressimo VTA adaptor because you don't have to modify the original arm hole for it to be used.
