...yes, I have passed The Eagles! Steve's remaster sounds better than the Elektra remasters (by Ted Jensen)

...but DCC's Doobies is one of the remaster, which didn't convinced me! I do prefer Rhino's Doobie Brothers boxset.

Deep Purple Made In Japan - absolutely;
EMI Anniversary 2CD of MiJ may be the worst sounding album in their whole DP reissue program;

Jethro Tull Aqualung - while I'm still going to compare the DCC disc with the new Japanese CD, the preliminary signs are that Steve wins again;

Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook on DCC should be better than the recent Verve remaster of the album, though I haven't compared them directly; I did have four or five other VME reissues of the songbooks, and none sounded as good as the DCC, no matter what the stickers say about "24-bit" or "96KHz" remastering.

No contest ... my #1 pick for this would be Court and Spark by Joni Mitchell. Steve did a particularly super job with this. It was one of the first DCC CDs I ever bought, and it went a long way toward convincing me to buy more Hoffman-mastered CDs.

My sister bought the subsequently issued HDCD remaster, and I couldn't believe how awful it sounded next to Steve's. WAY too bright -- and the very definition of grainy.

I only wish I'd bought the DCC vinyl which I had the chance ... but I'll live with the gold CD.
