I took my Dual 1246 for service a while ago in preparation for a cartridge upgrade. Upon close inspection, the guy found all the counter weight parts in the arm are unscrewed and just lying there in the back under the cover, making weight adjustment impossible.
Anyway, I decided that it's not worth fixing - there were other issues since auto start/ auto pickup weren't working either - so he offered me a NAD TT with Astatic cartridge.
Although the build quality and refinement are not as great as Dual, the sound quality is a lot better. Anybody here has experience with NAD TTs? Are they decent?
Also, any cartridge suggestions for this unit?

Thanks!

A NAD TT with 3-digit model number is rebadged Rega planar 2 or later P2. Those with a 4-digit model number are much older and were based on a Japanese design (I think).

I seen the page but overall I don't know if this is decent enough to keep. It looks "pro" with springed legs and a very light arm. Sound quality is good (for now).

How about suggestions for cartridges, any suggestions?
