I just received "Wings Over America" 3 disc Japanese set with mini LP artwork. While the artwork is nice, the sound is Great. This was a release that hadn't been remastered in the UK series. I see that there's also a Japanese 2 disc set. Does anyone know if it too has the same great fidelity of the 3 disc set?

I have no idea what the 3 CD set comes from, truthfully...all of the other McCartney LP-sleeve reissues are, presumably, re-EQed clones of already availible discs, as seems to be the MO of Toshiba/EMI currently.

Contrary to popular opinion, the Japanese Wings Over America 3 cd set was not remastered. It is simply a clone (possibly eq'd) of the previously available edition. Beatles experts Mark Easter and Chip Madinger debunked this in their excellent "8 Arms To Hold You" book.

You can get more info on this GREAT book via: http://8arms.homeip.net Click inside the album on the homepage for more info and then on the individul Fab Four names. As for WOA- that a great album- Paul at his peak in '76. His Beatle-tune performances are excellent on that record- in some cases, I prefer them to the originals! (ex: The Long & Winding Road). Ive always wished they could remaster it to improve the sound quality. I have a bootleg from that tour on CD and the sound is much more upfront.

I actually had that CD back in '97 and played the hell out of it that summer.
