Anyone else catch the premiere of this show following the final episode of The Sopranos?

So funny and weird it made me totally forget about the unsettled ending of our favorite crime family.

Oh ... and any show that features a theme song from Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros is a winner before it even starts in my book. :D

I quite enjoyed it, though I have to admit that the overuse (to me) of the "F-word" seemed forced and made me pay attention to it, and the way the characters were saying it, rather than being immersed in the moment of the drama. Still, I'll give it a chance.

Classic David Milch. If you saw "Deadwood" at all there are many parallels to draw.

It seems that F this and F that are part of the HBO culture. I found it very distracting. I found it hard to watch but then again I was typing away on the Sopranos thread as well.

Oh, I know. Frankly, it's one reason I trailed away from watching Deadwood. I don't mind stylization and all that, but it sometimes gets in the way of the flow of the story.

I was still a little numb from the ending of the Sopranos, so I decided to "chill out" by watching the end of the Spurs-Cav game. I might try to catch this in a re-run before next week.

Yeah, my wife and I did that too...That didn't quite end as we wanted it to either!

Not too many likable characters in this one. Although I thought that Rebecca De Mornay has turned into one unbelievable MILF.

I thought that song was pretty cool. It's called "sun/rise/light/flies" by a band from England called Kasbian. They have it and the rest of the album Empire streaming on their Web site.

I may catch the next episode, just to give it a fair chance, but I, too, was put off by the fake, forced use of the F-word every third or fourth word. Distracting and aggravating, to say the least.

I can't quite make sense of this show and what it is supposed to be about. The first episode was not bad, but not great either.

Well -the Bible-the Book Of Revelations. Written by John. This seems to be a modern figure who is referring to end times and around whom some supernatural experiences are happening(levitation , resurrection of the dead(the bird). It is also about surfing(very cool). And good music. I like it. Also John seems to have magical pockets.

The swearing doesn't bother me. The fact that David Milch and HBO gave up on Deadwood to make this show sickens me. I thought it was okay, but nothing special. I'll watch another episode or 2 to see if it gets better. I'm also concerned that I'll get into it, only to have it left hanging like Deadwood and Carnivale. Yes, I'm bitter. They were both like reading a book to find the last chapter torn out, except that you can't just buy another copy of those shows with the ending intact.

Rebecca D needs to show a lot some more skin or I'm bailing. Otherwise, drugged out surfers don't interest me.

Got to watch it last night. Interesting beginning, hard to see where it can go or how John's character is going to develop. But if the idea interested Milch enough to pursue it, I am going to have to follow it for a while. And John's nearly random repeatings of earlier phrases were hilarious counterpoint to some of the 'action'.

I have no objection to F-bombs, and thought they were very well deployed in Deadwood. But I agree with the previous posters that they were overused to the point of senselessness in John Ep 1. BTW, I didn't catch how he comes to be 'from Cincinnati'. Did I miss that, or will it only be revealed in the final episode???

I was exhausted after that amazing Sopranos episode. Hopefully Movie Central West up here, will re-run John From Cincinnati another day this week. Watched the first couple of minutes. Not amused either with the overuse of the "F" bomb.

I've watched the first two episodes and I really like it. I think its just a cool story about a messed up family at its basic level. There are supernatural tones to it but I don't they add or taqke away too much from the story. The use of profanity doesn't bother me at all. I think it actually makes this particular story more believeable. I think Ed O'Neil's character is fantastic. Although I'm trying to figure out how he is related to the Yost's. Is he just a good friend of the family or is he actually related to them? I'll continue to watch it and see what it delivers. I think people give up on shows too easily if they don't know everything right off the bat.

Nice show, offbeat, well written. I'll watch a few. Bruce Greenwood, Rebecca DeMornay, Ed O'Neill, buncha ex-Deadwood folks .. and Luiz Guzman?! Set the Tivo!

I watched from Tivo, so I'm fuzzy on the air date, but if it's the one where the miracle occurs, it's TV on the Radio doing Staring at the Sun.
