I've been saving for some time now in hopes of landing a new pair of Edinburghs, and in the course of some casual web-browsing, came across this website that I thought might be of interest to some:

http://www.users.bigpond.com/tunnelgap/Tannoy/Tannoy1.html

I know there's a few vintage Tannoy owners here, and this site contains some information on replacing worn out surrounds as well as a source for obtaining new surround replacements. Plenty of other neat stuff there, as well.

I thought you might like that site. There's a picture in there somewhere of two Lancaster cabinets, one standard and one corner model. Classic stuff.

Joe Meek used Tannoy REDS, I believe. Anything Joey used is ok with me!!

Cool! Thanks for posting this link.
I own some recent Tannoys but I one day will get lucky and stumble on some vintage models for dirt cheap. I will! I can feel it. Think positive. :D

The proprietor of that Tannoy Site also runs a very good site devoted to Leak, and wrote an excellent book about Leak called 'Firsts in High Fidelity.' There is a yahoo egroup too, just called Tannoy.
Another excellent, and associated Tannoy site, is Hans Hiberlink's:

You can see a pair that I had a hand it building at:

Jeff

They are now complete and sound great. I just haven't updated the page. And of course, they would be better with Golds...

Steve,

Those Tannoy drivers look mucho cool. I'll bet they sound excellent too.

I love Tannoys, IMO there are no speakers that sound better. I use a pair of System 8s as studio monitors and a pair of Tannoy Reveal (which the System 8's replaced) in my reference system as front L/Rs with a Tannoy MXC-M center speaker and a pair of Tannoy MX1-M's as surrounds. They all sound beautiful.

Dan C,

How do you like your MX3-M's (I checked your profile)? I'm about to replace my pair of Reveals with a pair of MX4-M's. I think they sound really nice.
