I would like to know... what are your favorites??? I mean those titles which surpass the original releases or regular remasters easily.

I vote for:

Jethro Tull: Aqualung
Elvis: 24 Karat Hits
Nat King Cole
Roy Orbison
Queen: A Night At The Opera
Heart: Dreamboat Annie
Bob Seger: Night Moves

I would add:

Joni Mitchell: Court & Spark
Elvis Presley: Elvis is Back!
Elton John: Greatest Hits

I also like the Doors discs I have (Doors, Strange Days, L.A. Woman) very much. I've not heard the recent Grundman remasters to compare, but ... on their own merits I love the DCC's.

... plus I would have to add

Bob Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited

Don't know how I forgot about that one ... a wonderful mastering job.

Yes, that's true... it beats the latest SBM-remaster by Sony. I still can shake my head... new technology is useless when the mastering engineer can do the other stuff right!

Hey!
What about the spectacular job that Steve did with The Beach Boys: Endless Summer and the near whole CCR series. ;)

Steve Miller Band Greatest hits far surpassed the vinyl for me...as did "Highway 61".

His jazz CD's are great, like Bill Evans "Portrait In Jazz," Sonny Rollins "Saxophone Colossus," and the Miles Davis Quintet discs. I especially love the way the cymbals sound on these discs; like shimmering sand, a much finer "grain" than other CD's I have.

Too bad they didn't sell too well. It would have been great to hear Steve do some Clifford Brown, who's got one of the most full-bodied tones I've ever heard.

Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited*
Joni Mitchell - Blue, Court & Spark*
The Doors - Self Titled, Strange Days
Pat Benatar - In The Heat Of The Night
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds*
Steve Miller - Fly Like An Eagle
Queen - A Night At The Opera*
Cream - Wheels Of Fire, Fresh Cream*
CCR - Willie And The Poor Boys (Vinyl rock too), Pendulum, Cosmos Facotry, Bayou Contry (not sure if I have the others on DCC)*
Heart - Dreamboat Annie
Eagles - Hotel California*
Ringo Starr - Ringo
Miles Davis - Relaxin' w/Quartet*
Jim Croce - Gold In A Bottle

These will curl your toes, put ice on your spine, and move you to your knees. The ones marked * are each the audio experience equivilant of getting a hot lapdace from Gillian Anderson.

EACH! Oh, the rest are pretty close too.

Wow,

For a second there, I missread your comment... a lap dance from "Ian Gillan".

What an image that was!

I will have to slow down and pay more attention. I may never be able to listen to Deep Purple again.

LOL! You listed Hotel California as one of the *'s. I bought that for my girfriend and we have played it many times at her place. By your definition, would that have made it a threesome?

Looks like most of the bases have been covered already so I'll just have to say this: add a * to Heart, and I'll take my lap-dance with Gwenyth Paltrow.

If I can't have that I'll settle for Nancy before the big appetite.

Oh, and I agree with the Fly Like An Eagle choice. How about that bass intro to The Window?

I'd have to pick Court and Spark, Doors debut, and The Cars debut as my favorite lap dances.
