Arrrggghh!!! So many online music vendors are lame. I have had too many cases where I browse their catalogs and order something, only to have them say, "Ooops! We don't have that item!" Do these folks know anything about keeping their inventories and their web pages integrated? I have just tried to look for DCC's Elton John's Greatist Hits. Both Music Direct and Second Spin have jived me after indicating they had it.
Another one that has jived me is Amazon.com. First, they were doing good to get the hard--to-find stuff for me. Then for some reason, when I started ordering the 72-74 Japanese King Crimson disks, thy kept throwing delay after delay at me (each delay being 4-6 weeks). I ordered a limited edition of ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition. They sent me the wrong disk. When I ask them to get the right one, they played the delay game, again. Finally, they played it when I tried to find the Japanese release of Steely Dan's Can't Buy a Thrill.
Funny thing is, when I turned around and ordered the King Crimson disks from CDNOW, they got all the titles I wanted to me in a matter of days. CDNOW has never stiffed me inventory-wise (knock on wood).
Can anyone recommend other online vendors that keep a REAL inventory?
