I think I was too agressive in unwrapping the coiled cord on these headphones and probably broke a wire. Anyway, the headphones do not work.
Does anyone have information on installing a replacement cord for these headphones? The cost of new Sony MDR-7506 phones is around $100.
Thanks in advance.

I called Sony today. The cost of a replacement cord is $45. That's half the price of new headphones. Ouch.

Ouch is right. I'm not saying it's probable, but it may be that the cause of them breaking could be due to a manufacturing defect. I'd try to get them to foot the bill. I beat the living crap out of my 2 sets for the last 15 years, and they work fine.:agree:

I have a rolling chair near my computer and I always find that I'm inadvertantly running over the cable. No ill effects from this as of yet.

Thanks, but I really did pull on the cord pretty hard to untangle it. I believe it was my fault.:hide:

Ya think you can handle taking them apart at all?
Just a suggestion to ward off the $45.00 bill. You can get a brand new set for around $80 bucks. Still, it's half the price to get them fixed.

Yes, I think I could take them apart. If the cord was $25 or so, I'd buy it. I do have other headphones, so it isn't unbearable.

Chances are that the wire broke right inside where it connects. You could most likely cut it a bit shorter(after the break) and just solder it back on.:agree:

Thanks! I'll look at that. What have I got to lose?
