Not very long ago I had serious problems with my HDD, which randomly screwed or deleted files. Some mp3 / aac / wav got badly damaged like the one on the picture below. That's Iron Maiden - Aces High, by the way :realmad:
Is there a software, that can go through all my audio files and check if everything is in order with them? Maybe something similar to FLACtester, but for lossy files, too.

You can make .md5 checksum files for your song files and verify them every so often. What operating system do you use?

Win XP.
It's too late for making checksum files, I already have the files damaged and just want to check which exactly are these and rip them again. Besides, my music is structured in folders and making .md5-s can be cumbersome.

try sound forge or any other wave editor, which has some clipping detection / de-clicking tools. you should be able to scan and find drop-outs or corrupted data portions pretty easily.

WaveLab also has error detection and correction.

Found this audiotester (
http://www.vuplayer.com/other.php) software, seems to do the job with MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC & WavPack files.
Now I need to try something for AAC, as I import from iTunes. I need a software where you can just drop like 2000-3000 files and it starts checking.
Can the above mentioned do that? No point checking files one by one

Found a great foobar2000 plugin, that perfectly does the job with most file formats - foo_verifier.dll (
http://foobar2000.com/components/foo_verifier.zip)
The files that look like the one above are reported as undecodable, because of unsupported format or corrupted file. The plugin also allows for .txt exporting to make it even easier to spot problematic items :righton:
Usage: Just put the .dll in the \foobar2000\components\ folder, start foobar2000 and load your files. Then Right-Click -> Utils -> Verify Integrity
