I have seen all of the discussions of the MC275, but have not seen anyone talk about the MC2102. I am taking a good, hard look at this amp. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Stereophile gave it a nice review some years back. More watts than the MC275,
and has the blue meters. Originally more expensive than the MC275 also. It also uses KT88 output tubes.

I think that the going price for the 2102 is $5500 or so, and the new 275 that I have access to is $5000 (it is no longer being made). For that diff in price, would you take the 2102?

Try Audio Classics if your interested in MAC gear. They are located down the street from the MAC plant in Binghampton and do mail order. One of the owners is the son of Gordon Gow who was a legend at McIntosh labs. They are impeccably reliable and honest and have the inside track on everything Mac.
I purchased a mint reconditioned MC275 Mk V from them two months ago for $2,525 including shipping, with a warranty.

Ask for Ernie and tell him that I sent you.

He can also steer you towards the 2102 if that's what your after.

I want to use the amp in my apartment in Tokyo. I also want to avoid using a step-down transformer from 110 to 100 volts. The MC275 I am looking at purchasing is new, and it is the "gold edition". This is a limited edition, and looks sooooo nice. However, the retail price is $6500 (based on current Yen/$ exchange rate) and I am being offered one of the "few remaining" for $5000.
