Space limitations in a shelf I'm building for my computer and stereo stuff has me thinking of mounting my MSB Link III DAC vertically, next to my computer [instead of horizontally under the CD player where it is now]. The space I'd save would enable me to add another drawer for CDs. Is there any reason why the DAC wouldn't work properly mounted this way?
No moving parts Ron, I don't see why not.

Ron, are there slats on the top of the MSB for heat to escape? Turning the unit on it's side might not provide proper ventilation, which will shorten the life of the unit considerably. Also, many guys attempt to minimize vibrations to their DACs. Turning the unit on it's side would provide direct coupling of the shelf to the chassis, the opposite direction of what others aim for. (Though you may not buy into such stuff.) Just my thoughts on the subject.

Hmm. Yes there are slats for ventilation. And yes, hadn't thought about the vibration issue. OK, sounds like it was a bad idea.

Actually good thoughts. After thinking a bit about it it would be bad for the timing clock with the jitter factor even if there was no vent slots.
Well, there you have it Ron!:D
