View Full Version : Uh oh-- I went out and stimulated the economy tonight...

... And now it's time for Hoffmania around my house!!

(And hey, I'm sure that I'll really **love** macaroni and cheese for the next week or so!!! :)

But oh boy, the stuff I found!

1. The Doobies G.H.
2. The Cars G.H.
3. Badfinger - Straight Up
4. Badfinger - No Dice
5. Queen - Night At the Opera
6. Steve Miller Band - Fly Like and Eagle
7. Steve Miller Band - G.H
8. Bonnie Raitt - Luck of the Draw

And while it's only $175 that I'm pumping into the local economy, I like to think that, like so many of you, I'm just doing my patriotic duty...

(No applause necessary-- no, really, you're too kind.)

Joel,

Did Steve use the single versions to compile the Steve Miller "hits" package like the original release? Or did he go with album versions?

How does this disc sound?

Dan, take a look at the Stage Fright (http://cgi.dhot.com/cgi-bin/ubb_forums/dcc/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000137) thread for the answer to that.

Dan:

As HZ pointed out, Steve snuck a couple of long versions onto his disc... which I thought was a great idea (though as he pointed out, it was not without its consequences-- thanks for the effort, though Steve!!)

And it does indeed sound exceedingly groovy. Very warm, nice separation/clarity, and excellent "bite" to the guitars. Highly recommended!

There were multiple copies available of about two thirds of those titles. I can't wait!

P.S. Just got back from Tower with A Love Supreme/ Coltrane and Headhunters/ Herbie Hancock.

Great classics, Pig. I own both on Vinyl & CD. Great sonics on the new Love Supreme "Desert Island" issue.

Sckott, I got the Desert Island version. It's great, but I can't compare it to my vinyl copy because alas, I ain't got no turntable. :(

Zoo, although I'm new here, I notice that many of us have very similar tastes in music. This is a great board, as are it's members.

The vinyl "white" limited edition of Love Supreme (to match the Desert Island version, 180g Impulse/MCA mastered by Capitol) was done very well. I've since gotten a copy of the CD and sent it though the tubes. It's a beautiful feeling! Love that bass solo in Pt III. Sometimes I just play that part before starting the album.

Headhunters: The 1st track catches you off guard because someone screws with the VSP on the multi, so the sound changes pitch. Ah, nice cheap gimmick for Herbie to fool with.
