Just listened to the Sony SACD of the Byrds Greatest Hits, sounds very good indeed, much better than any of the CD versions of hits or albuems. Great bass, and the treble shimmers, not bright, but great detail. I also played the Santana Abraxas SACD, it compares very well against the MoFI CD, better detail etc.
I will post opinions I have of Carol King, and Willie Nelson soon! null

I've got this. I like it alot too. I'm interested in what your opinion about that Carol King sacd. I'd like to pick that up.

The Stevie Ray Vaughan sacds are very good too. Would be nice if Sony could ramp up production and get more titles out.

Tim did you mean that Santana Abraxas sounds better than the MOFI or it is just comparable to it? I'd also be interested to know if JKerr has compared SRV on SACD to the MOFI version and if so what's the end result? :D

I haven't heard SRV on MOFI. But compared to the SRV remastered cds, the SACDs (Texas Flood & Couldn't Stand The Weather) are better. They also have the same bonus tracks.

I have all these you're wondering about, but not the MoFi versions for a comparison. But the SACDs just stand way above the remastered Sony CDs--much better detail, resolution, presence, clarity, openness. Same with Blonde on Blonde.

Also, Byrds--5D will soon be making its way to SACD! One can only hope DCC gets on the SACD bandwagon soon.

Well, let's put it this way, the MoFi was very nice, some detail was extracted that one could not hear on the standard CD issue. The SACD sounds as if it is a flat transfer ie no bass enhancements or digi noise reduction. The Mofi while no digi noise is used, sounds a touch quiter. The SACD has better dynamics and detail for sure! But please note that you hear the detail through the tape hiss, same as in a excellent vinyl issue. The sound staging was much better on the SACD than the MoFi, for example the opening chimes just float in space, where as the MoFI has the same tonal quality, they tend to stick in the speaker as aopposed to float away from them. Another good example is the string resonating on the instramenatls (track 7).
