I agree that the Amor All fiasco was a problem. What it really means is you should not trust what Tellig says - but that's well known. Don't you think that the manufacturers of CD treatments took that lesson to heart?

Well, at least it's not 80 bucks, like the similar crap from Jena Labs.
I haven't seen this stuff, but the Jena stuff looked felt and smelled just
like Mequiars #19 that I use to polish my dustcover with!!
Arrgh...

If you are skeptical and you haven't tried it, then what is your opinion based upon?

Best treatment is keeping it clean.

What the latest experience with this stuff?
I was thinking it might "prevent laser-wandering" [from some of my SACDs on its CDP transport.] Or is that hogwash? [Ha! Pardon the pun.]

Are there other/cheaper/better alternatives? I've heard something about GruvGlide, but isn't that for vinyl?

Anybody here use this stuff? Is it recommended?

Much like a new version of "Aja." :)
If someone already has it and has tied it, and thinks it does a decent job, then I would consider it.

Do you have a link to that Tellig article? I assume we're talking about a Sam's Space column in Stereophile.

I gave up on this stuff a long time ago. I just use dishwashing soap and water. Works for me.

I found that a number of 'shining' compounds leave a surface film, and that doesn't seem to help. I have no idea what 'laser wander' is, in the context of CD playback on a working machine, but it's there in the description.
I often find that a clean with detergent (I actually use the disc doctor miracle fluid if it's around) improves things a bit if there's any manufacturing film or fingermarks/greasy dust. And after any polishing attempts.
I know two owners of these (

Well, I bet it works, but is the sink method just as good? Hard to say, but I'm sticking with it. It hasn't ruined any of my discs whatsoever.
I've never washed any of my CDs. Ever! I don't even think they are dirty....

Well, if there's no fingerprints on them, why bother? :righton:
Agreed!
A record cleaner - I can see that. Crud can hide in the grooves.

True. I'm chomping at the bit to get a Nitty Gritty.

Agreed, that most new CDs are usually clean, although I have seen a few with smears or debris on them.
If you collect used CDs, then you may run into to some cruddy ones. I know I have. I usually don't want to put a visibly dirty CD in my player.

If it is just cleaning you want, then Shine-Ola or BlueMaxx are my favorites, and I have successfully used Glass Plus, which does not have ammonia in it, or sometimes just plain old detergent and water. BlueMaxx and Shine-Ola claim to leave no residue and are easy to use, and they include a high quality micro-fiber cloth. I have tried several other products. I don't like the ones that seem to leave a layer on the surface, such as Optrix, UltraBit Platinum, or UltraVivid.
BlueMaxx claims to remove "static build-up for better data retrieval and then prevents static return". For the sound, I would pick BlueMaxx.
