I have some miscellaneous questions.

1. Steve, have you ever re-mastered any cajun music for CD?

2. I remember someone on this board stating that (long ago)the UK pressing of Jethro Tull’’s ““Stand Up”” was the one to get as opposed to the ridiculously priced MFSL pressing. Is that the one the 1990 Continuum label release?

3. Did DCC release Rod Stewart’’s ““Never a Dull Moment”” on gold CD? (I have seen copies for sale).

4. Any chance that DCC will ever do “Never mind the Bullocks, here’s the Sex Pistols”?

5. Does DCC have any classical music releases on CD? I can not seem to find any. I am sort of partial to Soviet era Russian recordings when I can find them, hint, hint :rolleyes:

I have the DCC version on vinyl, bu I have never seen a copy on Gold!!!

I know Sex Pistols' Never Mind The Bollocks is a great classic, but I doubt it would benefit from Steve's fingers! It's a trashy poor sounding recording.

Steve... when we will see the release of Doors' Soft Parade??? End of the year or ... :confused:

I don't know. I find that playing it through my tube amp sweetens the sound up a little. I'm not saying Steve is infallible, but he is pretty damn good at what he does. If anyone could make the Sex Pistols' Never Mind The Bollocks come to life , it’s probably him. I seem to remember the LP having more vitriol to it. Of course I have been wrong before.... :rolleyes:

"Stand Up" is really a very important album for Jethro Tull, and most people would argue that "Benefit" is musically a better album. If you can't find an Island Pink, the MFSL CD I've found is closer to god. I think I must have bought 10-20 pressings of that album, and even a WB/Reprise (US) I thought sounded VERY good, for it's time.

Bollacks - Virgin has a remaster called the 20th Anniversary, and it's packaged as a CD, but it's really a jewel boxed shaped hard cover book, about the size of most children's bedside books. Very recommended.

Improvement on Bollacks? No. In fact, I'm dead against it. The compression, bleeding highs, the kick drum beating the bass guitar back into the throat of the sound is what it's supposed to SOUND LIKE. Evan, you're correct on how your tubes are sweetening up the sound, plus if you have an *early* Virgin issue domestically to you (JPN) that issue is going to give you a fantastic sound in a very "screwed up" way. It's like trying to describe (audiophillically) sweet smelling dog poop.

The album was also meant to be played VERY loud. When you listen to "Problem" the middle of the song where the guitar break is, if you feel the drums pounding swiss cheese-holes into the soundstage, it's loud enough.

If compression was a tranquilizer, there's enough of it in Bollacks to subdue a dozen elephants. Only way to make it sound better is to use some EQ when you feel you're head's going to explode.

Seek out "Rock And Roll Swindle" on VCD or Lazerdisc, Evan. Ironically, the ideas and themes of the rock and roll business were sarcastic, but they were actually well thought out and sometimes accurate protrails of reality. "Concentrate on building generation gaps".... became recipies of Lydons' punk rock flair.

To be honest Lydon *WAS* pissed off for a reason. It was never an act. He hated the band, the audience, life, music and where rock and roll was going. The man is brilliant, and usually very polite, but musch like Pete Townshend, bruitally honest and wastes no time in giving you his mind.

I am sure you are aware of the MFSL silver discs that featured classical Soviet era recordings? I picked one up (Peter Travastoksy(spelling?) in Boston for $2.99.

In response to question #4 no Evan the Rod Stewarts are probably just drops or cd-r of the commercial release. :)

I second Scott's opinion on the MFSL of Tull's Stand Up. The Pink Island is by far the best vinyl pressing. However given the rarity of Mint pressings (I purchased 4 copies before getting a perfect mint copy). The MFSL cd is a hair away in sound quality and one of the few gold titles worth paying the absurd prices that they are going for.

i just picked up japanese import CDs of "stand up" and "benefit" and i must say i'm quite impressed with the sound quality; particularlly "benefit", which, er, benefits from a widened stereo image. they're packaged in mini LP sleeves.
