View Full Version : WWII USA, B-27 Bomber Amplifier
Oh yeah baby! This is what I'm talking about! B-27 Super Fortress Iron.
I had to show this. I found it on a auction site. If you're interested search for "WWII U S AIR FORCE TUBE AMPLIFIER".
I'd love to have this...just to have it...but my wife says I got enough of that stuff.

Cool. But you'd need two for stereo. I'm guessin' it was the power amp for its radio transmitter...

Super FortressI want an entire line of WWII American inspired audio gear: B-24 Liberator CD player, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt preamp, Convair B-32 Dominator amplifier, Douglas Devastator speakers which have the Curtiss Helldiver bass drivers and Douglas A-1 Skyraider tweeters and C-47 Skytrain cables.

Don't forget the B-17 turntable with the P-51D escort moving coil cartridge.

You can tell that amp came out of a B-29 and not a B-27? How could anyone know that?
If it's the plane picture...well, that's what Goggle gave me.

looks like a piece of boat-anchor radio hardware more than an audio amp, though it might be a modulator unit as well... Looks like P-P 807s in the output stage.

Nah, the amp could've been from a Buick for all I know. The plane I know, because my dad is a model airplane enthusiast and historian.

Yeah, I bet "30 Seconds over Winterland" would sound great on that!

So far as I know, there is no historicaly operational US bomber designated as the B-27.
I did not remember any B-27 operational US bomber plane ( I am an amateur military historian), and I googled "B-27" and found other stuff, but no US Bomber.
Google must have a "Mistake" regarding the caption or description of the photo of the B-29 "Sentimental Journey" if it said it is a "B-27." Rolf E.

I found a site that claims a B-27 was a proposed high altitude variant of a Martin B-26 Marauder. As far as the picture goes, that definitely is a Boeing B-29.

This may be a servo amp.
B29 turrets could be synchronised so they
all fired at the same target.
