Anybody know anything about Fons turtables made during the 1970's? Here's one with SME arm.

My cousin had one, with an SME (series III, I think) arm. It was a nice setup! But I don't know if it was on the order of a Linn or not...I doubt it. (His was a different model...no strobe on the turntable platter.) I don't know if/when Fons went out of business, but for a couple of years, a company was running an ad in the back of Stereo Review selling these tables.

Well many years ago, back in the late 70's I think, I owned a Fons CQ30. It was yet another Scottish three point suspension belt-drive turntable. Unfortunately it was not, in my view, as good as the other Scottish TT's (Ariston or Linn) of the day.
Performance was about on a par with my old Thorens TD150 when both were fitted with an SME arm. It was certainly less capable than the Logic DM101 that I replaced it with.

One cool thing about the Fons is that it plays 33, 45, and 78!

Yes, 78's and a pitch control
