Hello, all you audiophile experts out there!

I came across (and borrowed) some interesting interconnects that have a very detailed high end. They have wooden RCA connections, R and L are distinguished as light and dark wood, very stiff wire (it's bendable and stays in the shape that you bend them) and have a weave nylon type coating / jacket on the wire.

The story I was told is this:

About 10 years ago, Stereophile has an interconnect shootout. Some scientist type guy, not an audiophile, applied his knowledge and built a demo pair. It was supposed to be a new type of metal. They scored suprisingly well against the competition and got some rave reviews. The scientist type guy started up a factory because of the demand but closed it down within a month because of the prohibitive costs involved in making the interconnects. They were all hand made.

Does anyone know what these are called? Any memories of them to share or are there any reviews of these available on the 'net?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Gary,

I'm going to take a wild stab at this one. There are so many different
manufacturers.

How about JPS Labs. They made a cable made from single strand aluminum and it was very stiff. The company has since gone to stranded aluminum wire.

Thanks, Gary, but that's not it. There are no names on this wire at all. And don't forget that they are not in business anymore... JPS looks pretty active!

Although I've never heard a pair, users swear by them and they are very
popular over in Italy.

JPS would never do wooden "plugs". They are quite stiff though. Naug, how about a picture?

What I'm wondering is what material their using for the cable. The way Gary describes it could be nickel or a hybrid of aluminum and copper.

I can putter about and try to get a picture uploaded but it'll take a while.

Thanks for all your help.
