Any opinion on the sound of the new reissues in comparison with the MFSL Bookends and the Sony Mastersound of Bridge Over Troubled Water?
Well, Steve himself mentioned that he prefers the MFSL version of Bookends because it's a flat transfer; apparently there's a bit of EQ done or something on the Columbia remaster. Otherwise, I think it's a pretty close call. If you're not that much of a stickler, and especially if you're on a budget, go for the Columbia one on Bookends.
As for the Mastersound one, I wouldn't waste my money on tracking it down unless you're a collector of such things. Same 20-bit Super Bit Mapping, same producer overseeing the reissue, probably the same tapes (the new silver remaster definitely uses the original master tapes).

The MFSL blows away any issue I've heard so far (Bookends). It's a shame that more of S&G weren't done like this. Classic's BOTW on 45RPM vinyl also sounds VERY good. The Masterounds in general are just as I view the 1/2 speed remaster vinyl Masteround CBS vinyl; good, but there's a lot of room for improvement. CBS did a great job of product marketing and hype, but the product never shown though it 100%.

Mofi's Bookends is the BEST remaster... beats the latest SG remaster easily!!!
I own this one as well and agree totally with Sckott and Claus. ;)

IMHO, the MOFI "Bookends" is one of the best sounding CDs ever produced...by any artist or label.
