I hate most TV and am very discriminating about what I watch. There have been very fews shows I cared enough about to be upset by their cancellation.
Odyssey Five (Showtime). Five good lead actors and a great concept.
Harsh Realm (Fox). This was created by Chris Carter after he lost interest in the X-Files. Great show and great concept.
Surface (NBC?). I was slightly less interested in this one, though I thought it had great potential.
And we are left with a lot of crap.
Back to Harsh Realm. I recently discovered a fantasy series (of books) called "Otherland" by Tad Williams. Very similar concept and extremely entertaining. If you like reading sci-fi-fantasy, check it out.

Doctor Who, although it's back.
And when I was a young'un, a series called Holmes and Yoyo. Would probably hate it now, but I loved it then.

Not that any of these shows were life-altering, but they all had the same thing in common...ABC couldn't find a spot on their skeds for adult, thought-provoking drama, and LEAVE IT THERE long enough to build an audience. All these were at one time or another dumped into the Friday-night "slot of death" after pre-empting and schedule-hopping so the viewers couldn't find it. They were also good sequential stories, where you needed to jump in for a few episodes to realize how good they were.

Soap. Left a lot of plot threads hanging.
Get a Life. The last network sitcom that regularly made me laugh out loud.

The revived Fantasy Island with Malcolm McDowell. It was edgy. McDowell's Mr Rourke was pretty unlikable, actually. He made the whole thing very watchable.
And of course when they cancelled Max Headroom. As if no one saw that coming.....a show that satirizes TV (written with a scalpel), airing on network TV.

FIREFLY!
Why oh why did Fox run it out of sequence? I hate space shows, but this one was second to none! Love it!

Most recently - I would say "JUSTICE" - truly a great show with a lot of potential.
Logan's Run - lots of room for intersting stories
The Invaders -
Invasion - should have had another season at least.

Adventures of Brisco County Jr. When I got the DVD set, I was surprised to find several episodes I hadn't seen.
Joe Bash (Peter Boyle)
I never watched any original airings, so I've been catching up on Angel, thanks to TNT, and am impressed with the writing. I wish Spike had been more prominent.
Speaking of James Marsters, I was disappointed that he wasn't cast for the lead in the movie, Constantine. I was a fan of the comic book, Hellblazer, which featured the character, and when I saw Spike on Buffy, I knew he'd be perfect.

FREAKS & GEEKS, although it did end somewhat sensibly with the sister becoming her own person, heading off in a van with a bunch of Deadheads instead of attending an academic camp. It didn't feel like a cold cutoff.
Fox has cancelled several favorites, but I was especially frustrated with their handling of THE PJ'S. As Fox always seems to do, they developed a terrific show and proceeded to move it around the schedule enough that even fans couldn't reliably find it. Fox then sold off their unaired episodes to WB where it died a quiet death.
Why does Fox always play three-card monte with its shows? They develop some of the best shows and then expect you to check the listings every week to find where they hid it.
