Okay, first of all this quiry: I've been drooling over the prospect of the "gold SH treatment" for early ZZ Top recordings discussed some time ago over at the DCC board; are these still in the works?
Now on with my personal dream list:
Humble Pie "Rockin' the Fillmore"
Procol Harum "Live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra" (i.e., with the additional tracks recoprded but left off of the original release, like "Simple Sister" and "Repent Walpurgis")
Argent "All Together Now"
Fleetwood Mac "Then Play On"
Mountain "Nantucket Sleighride"
Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" [Note: I have the MoFi gold orig., which contains annoying low level rumble on 'Money' (about 1'30" into the track for approx. 45") that I doubt was part of the original recording] -- I'm confident that Steve would master the signature version of this classic album.
Rolling Stones (any/all of the classic Decca recordings from their 'Satisfaction' period through "Let It Bleed")
Beatles ("Rubber Soul" through "Abbey Road")
Jefferson Airplane "Surrealistic Pillow" (I own the RCA stereo/mono gold release with questionable mastering from questionable master tapes; any improvement would be a miracle considering the rumored non-existent mastertapes, but if, as the old Starship song goes, 'one believes in miracles' then Steve is THE MAN for the job!)
Whew! I'd better stop there, but I'm sure some lost nugget will occur to me and I'll modify (i.e., expand) this list in the future.
Cheers,
Robert Cat Conrad :)
