I hope they release the US pilot of the show also. That would be great and complete my collection.

So it's just region 2?

At long last! We've waited for this for years!
Let's not rejoice too soon, they still have time to cancel (read postpone indefinitely) the release...

So it's just region 2?
No. Region 2 is split into two sets, the first will come out this month and the second in April. Region 1 will get only one big set containing all 22 episodes, in April.
And I've seen photos of the German part one box - this is definitely happening! Colour me psyched!

is there any conformation as to whether either of the sets will carry the pilot episode???

There is a legit Region 1 release of the pilot. It was released by Republic Pictures for the Tawainese market and distributed by Catalyst Logic, whoever they are. Rest assured, it's legit . . . at least, the one I have is . . . The sound is a little wonky on it, though . . .

They will not, since this set is season two only.
My advice: download the European season 1 set and buy the re-released pilot when it reaches the US on Paramount. I know it's technically illegal, but omitting the pilot was a massive ripoff to begin with, and if you're going to buy a season 1 re-release with the pilot when it's released, your conscience should be clear. (I'd like to stress that I don't condone illegal downloading except in pretty extreme cases of ripoff. Not including a pilot episode in a season 1 dvd of any kind is that extreme case.)
I'm pretty sure a new transfer was made for the pilot, even the region 2 season 1 box used an inferior transfer (though better than the region 0 Catalyst disc), it's probably being saved for a season 1 re-release at one point (or a massive all-series box). A problem has been that no one could agree upon who actually holds the rights to release the pilot in the US! I don't know if this has been resolved by now, until a remastered pilot shows up on a Paramount region 1 dvd we can't know for sure.
I hope the pilot gets re-released on region 2 too. Watching the pilot in inferior quality is really annoying, especially since the pilot clips on the "previously on..." segment for episode 1 are in STELLAR quality!
Too late... I've already illegally downloaded the whole thing. I know it's not right, but what do they expect us to do? Wait four years after the incredible cliffhanger fest at the end of Season One? Sorry, no can do.

Is this the same as the region 0 dvd? Sure looks like it. But why is it listed as region 1 on Amazon? I'm getting confused here.

I downloaded season 2 too, but I'm still gonna get this new one. The sound quality on the Spanish region 2 dvds was abysmal. The picture quality was a drag too after the red and earth tone fest of the Artisan/Paramound first season dvds. I probably wouldn't bother with any other show, but Twin Peaks really benefit from good sound and picture, sound especially.
edit: I completely agree though, that the industry can't really expect that people DON'T download when they release the second season FIVE years after the first one. Seriously, five years; the mind boggles.

Whatever it is, region 0 or region 1, it plays on my region 1 DVD player.

... what do they expect us to do? Wait four years after the incredible cliffhanger fest at the end of Season One? Sorry, no can do.You need to be made of stouter stuff. Many of us have been waiting over 15 years since the cliffhanger fest at the end of Season Two, and we don't ever expect to be satisfied. :)

So you don't know you killed Laura Palmer? Wow.
I once had that come up in a crossword puzzle- kind of like assuming everyone already knows Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.

No, he meant the cliffhanger that ENDS THE ENTIRE SHOW. Talk about frustrating! :agree:

I once had that come up in a crossword puzzle- kind of like assuming everyone already knows Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.I don't think you understood me. Laura Palmer's killer was revealed during season two. I was referring to the cliffhanger ending of season two, the thread of which will likely never be picked up.

Just to avoid confusion... I believe that in Europe, Season 2 finished when Laura's death was solved, and the rest was considered Season 3.
Carry on... :)

I've been waiting since TV shows came out on video for it to be released. I can't wait.

Hehehe.
One thing though, knowing that it won't continue is not the same as waiting for what's actually made to be released.

Not here anyway, but maybe it should have been.
However the last episode was broadcast on TV as "the last TP episode" so I never expected another season, or considered what happened in that episode a cliffhanger. To me it was wrapped, and quite nicely.

Hahaha, seriously?
To me it has cliffhanger written all over it. It might as well have said "TO BE CONTINUED" in gigantic green lettering. I don't mind it though, I consider Fire Walk With Me the ending anyway.
