Does anyone else here enjoy this Discovery channel show? I find Mike Rowe to be one of the most likeable people on TV.

While I'm trying to get over plague I've ben laying here watching the Dirty Jobs marathon they're showing today. I've seen the episodes before but Mike Rowe is just about the best host on TV right now. He's so quick and keeps the jokes coming. Like you said, one of the most likable people on TV. Great show!

Mike Rowe is a great TV host. I've been a fan ever since he was on Evening Magazine locally in SF. In fact Dirty Jobs actually started off as a segment on Evening. It became so popular, he wound up pitching it to the Discovery Channel, and the rest is history.

I nearly fell out of my chair when he did that segment on that clam thing I don't know the name of. What a great show, and without him on it, it wouldn't be half as good!

I like the show, too. Does he seem kind of mean sometimes? But still, a good show. :)

I "discovered" Mike when he used to do a travel show with a woman whose name I forget. it was for romantic getaways. His humor was the most entertaining part of that show.
We really enjoy Dirty Jobs.

I love Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. There's just something about his sense of humor and wit that keeps you interested. the show definitely would not be the same without him.
He also has a great TV voice even when you don't see him on the screen such as his narration for the series Deadliest Catch, also on Discovery.

Yeah I've seen a few eps on occasion and liked the show and Mike.

A little wry and droll at times, but I think it helps "ground" the feel of the show, since the show is about something that's "a job" to the folks doing it over and over. :)

I love this show. Discovery seems to be on a roll these days. Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters and the new one with that idot that gets dropped in the middle of nowhere and tries to surivive using only what he has on hand (and a handy camera crew)
Point of information: Mike Rowe also used to sing opera!!!!

Last year, Mike Rowe stopped by Lebanon, PA, where I lived at the time, and did a segment at the local chocolate shop, Wertz Candies. I dunno how "dirty" that job was, but it made the papers in town.
We had to laugh a bit though, because every time we'd visit our friends here in Baltimore, on Sunday morning, we'd see Mike hosting a weekly half-hour infomercial, selling homes in the Maryland area. He still does it, even though he's become a well known TV host.

I was shocked -- in a good way -- to see tonite's episode on leather tanneries 'cause I've actually had the pleasure of working in a couple in of 'em in Peabody & Salem, MA. 'Twas a wild & dirty job....but kinda fun. Last I heard, one was on the Superfund list, the other had been turned into condos.

He's a great guy. Straight shooter, easy going, honest.
If he can grab a poisonus snake by its head and hose out a few sewer trucks, he's a walking fearless fear factor.

You mean 'Man Vs. Wild', right?
Same here, love all those Discovery shows! :righton: They're highly addictive. If a marathon of any of these shows happens to be on during a day off I can end up spending hours in front of that TV.
Who says 'reality shows' have to suck! :)

Maybe he means "Surviorman"? Yes, they are truly addictive. I don't like much TV, but I get sucked into Discovery and National Geographic (both in HD :righton: )

I love that show. I regret somehow missing the episode about the painting of the Mackinac Bridge; I even marked it on my calendar. Hoping for a rerun soon.

That was the first one that really freaked me out... at one point, he climbed into the steel of one of the towers and climbed down about 100 feet (or more, maybe)... to paint the inside of a "cell" towards the bottom of the tower. I'm not claustrophobic, but just watching that one made me uneasy!

It was a great one - I'm sure they'll rerun it before long. Note that Mike filmed a segment on Mackinac Island too (cleaning the streets after horses, I think). That one hasn't aired yet, but it's probably coming soon.
I remember Mike from his QVC days. Loved watching him then, love watching him now!

That would be disturbing! I enjoy watching Dirty Jobs. I would HATE to do them. :)
I saw the 'opposite' show to that a few weeks back. Not Dirty Jobs, but it was about a guy that went along on a repair job to a transmission tower. WOW! Climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb, climb and then you've barely made a dent. Once they were finally at the top, and ready to climb down, they were concerned that it was going to start getting dark. Definitely not a climb you want to be doing in the dark. He just about collapsed when they finally made it down to the ground again. I didn't see the beginning of the show, and I don't remember how high the tower was, but at one point they pulled back in the shot, and it was just incredible to see how relatively tiny they were in proportion to the tower.
Actually, if anyone knows what this show was, I'd be interested to find out. I'd like to see it from the beginning.
