I just finished watching some clips on www.rocky.com and I actually fear the worst... The film is based on some computer-fight speculation?! How far-fetched can it more get?
One of my favourite films is Rocky along with Rocky IV.

In Germany the film will make it in February. But in the US it's already in the cinemas. Have you seen it? Or are you excited about it?

It's getting some very complimentary reviews here. I'll rent it, for sure!

Not on my list for watching a comedy.

So far, word is that it's surprisingly good.

I've seen a bunch of complimentary reviews, and, for some weird reason, I really want to see it.

Gonna fly now....

Apparently, if you're a big fan of the original Rocky, this is for you.

A local radio guy saw it last week and glowed about it. He thinks it should win an Academy Award because it's so good, but is concerned that it won't because of the "middle Rocky movies".

He said "this is the perfect combination, Rocky and Rocky Balboa. You don't need to have seen the ones in the middle, and this is so great".

Personally, I'll wait until it's on cable, but the people who've seen it really enjoyed it.

Haven't seen it, but my suspicion is that critics and fans alike had such low expectations that they're pleasant surprised by the fact Stallone has apparently put together a respectable film.

I'm surprised to see pretty much every review is upbeat and complementary. Even a few that say it's the only one of the series that comes close to living up to the original film.

ACK!

Not on my list for watching a comedy.

"It's not a comedy!"

All I can think about is the old Carol Burnett Show skit where Tim Conway was playing a white haired Rocky XXXIV. Who knew back then that it was prophecy, not parody???

A friend I work with won tickets to a premiere last night. He had wonderful things to say about it. So much so that he felt the need to wear a Rocky sweatshirt today.

This is just a spent and tired franchise from a terrible egomaniacal actor who hasn't had an original idea for over 2 decades. I liked the first 2 movies - the next 2 were very Hollywood, cliched and predictable. I didn't bother with the Tommy Morrison garbage. I am just holding my breath for the following sequels:

Stop or My Mom Will Shoot Again
Rhinestoned
Judge Dread meets Godzilla
Oscared
Over the Top One More Time
Tango & Cashed

Cute. But I really don't care whether something is a sequal or not, only whether or not it's a good film. Right now it's sounding like Balboa is a worthwhile film no matter what its pedigree. But I will see it and make the call myself.

I get all choked up when I watch Rocky for some strange reason, so I'll be seeing it opening day. I actually had the chance to audition for the part of Rocky's kid when they were casting this film. Man was I excited. I've loved Rocky ever since I was 10, so I was happy just to audition.

You and me both. The first movie tears me up every time. One of the best movie scores ever. The 3rd and 4th films are major guilty pleasures for me. I know they aren't really "good" movies but when that music starts and the testosterone flows all critical faculties shut down.

When I first heard they were doing this, I was sad. Thought it was desperate.

Something seems to have gone terribly terribly right, though...

I can't wait now!

This is one of the toughest movies to judge on how it will do at the box office. But I think people are excited. I am now.

Let's all hope for the best.

I saw this movie tonight and it was very good. There's a speech that Rocky gives to his son that is really incredible. Very inspirational film!

Highly recommended. :righton:
